Note that only people who have been invited by one of the
Executive Committee members should submit a position paper to this
(closed) workshop.
Call for position papers:
The purpose of the position papers is:
1) To provide a basis for discussion of emerging problems in II at
the workshop.
2) To help the program committee identify additional speakers for
the workshop
3) To assist the executive committee form working groups around
thematic areas.
Please submit a 1-2 page paper in .pdf format describing either an
important open problem in information integration (these can be from
the topics below, or a new topic), or a description of an
information integration application environment (case study).
Of particular importance to this workshop are issues associated with
the integration of science and engineering data and Federal,
medical, and other records; the use of ontologies in integration;
combining text with structured data; mappings and global integrity;
data exchange and update reconciliation; schema or instance matching
and ontology alignment; imprecision and uncertainty in data and
inferences; reliable query answering in the presence of uncertainty;
tracking the origins of data; and data spaces and hands-offintegration.
Technical issues associated with heterogeneous sensitivities,
differential access, and mandated sharing in large collections will
also be discussed.
